Your Guide to Getting Verified on Facebook

16th August 2019

Getting your page or profile verified on Facebook is an integral part of your social media setup. It increases creditability and makes your brand appear established and trustworthy to your Facebook audience.

There are two types of verification badges on Facebook – the grey tick or the blue tick. Both are easily accessible and will improve your pages search position on the social platform as well as promoting authenticity.

Blue Verification Badge

The blue verification badge is reserved for public figures, media companies and large brands and organisations.

In fact, according to Facebook’s support team, only the following categories can be rewarded with a blue badge:

  • Journalists
  • Popular Brand or Businesses
  • Government Officials
  • Celebrities
  • Media
  • Entertainment
  • Sports Companies

As stated on Facebook’s Help Centre, ‘Eligibility for the blue verification badge is based on a variety of factors, such as account completeness, policy compliance and public interest. Requesting a blue verification badge isn't available right now.’

Never engage with individuals or businesses that offer to secure you a blue verification badge in exchange for money. Facebook don't sell blue verification badges, and any accounts associated with selling blue verification badges are at risk of having their badges removed. Facebook also reserve the right to remove the blue verification badge from accounts at their discretion.

Grey Verification Badge

Local businesses and smaller brands can request grey badge verification. Before you start to application process, you’ll need to ensure you’ve included as much business information on your page as possible, for example, your website, phone number, email address, logo etc.

You will then need to wait a couple of days until your verification request has been reviewed.
