In 2016, Pokémon released the mobile app “Pokémon Go” which encouraged people to walk around in real life locations to find and catch Pokémon as well as partake in battles with your friends.
At this month’s Pokémon 2019 Press Conference, a brand new app was announced by the name of Pokémon Sleep which is in partnership with Nintendo and intends to “turn sleep into entertainment.” The new game is launching in 2020 and they assured people that several Snorlax were consulted on the development!

The game will allow players to train their Pokémon while they sleep in real life. Nintendo are going to release a new device called the Pokémon Go Plus Plus or Plus + which will help to monitor the players sleep patterns and connect to smartphones through Bluetooth to display the data. The device can also be used through the day in the same way as the original Pokémon Go Plus.

It could be a fantastic way to encourage sleep for children and adults alike, just as Pokémon Go encouraged people to go outside and walk around local parks and historic sites. Trainers will have to wait a while to get their hands on the new game but in the meantime, an influx of Snorlax are appearing on the Pokémon Go game for players to catch.
