An unresponsive website isn’t a website worth having

Mobile phones have changed the way we live our lives and browse the internet. Mobile web usage outweighs desktop usage around the world, that’s why having a mobile-friendly (responsive) website has become a critical part of your business’s online presence.

Mobile friendly, or responsive websites as they are also known, are websites that are accessible and easy-to-use on mobile devices. Responsive means that the layout, structure and content of a website changes depending on the screen size it is being viewed on.

Did you know, the first-ever responsive website was made for Audi? It was launched back in 2001 and the design was described by professionals in the industry as being ‘fluid’, ‘flexible’ and ‘elastic’ until the term responsive was created.

When Mobilegeddon was announced by Google back in 2015, businesses around the world rushed to adopt the mobile-friendly functionality on their website. However, there are still some businesses who are being left behind.

Unresponsive websites not only get penalised by Google, the world's biggest search engine, but also social media platforms like Facebook that will both demote your website in favour of mobile-friendly ones, which are easier for their users to view and navigate around.

If your customers are trying to access your website on their mobile and the text is too small to read or the buttons are too small to press, they may quickly move onto your competitor’s website which may be much easier to use – wouldn’t you?
